This time we visit the Pheasant Mountain Area of The Monongahela
National Forest situated west of Parsons.
The cache is located near Pheasant Mountain Trail (TR120)
approximately 1.4 miles from the trailhead at Valley Fork Road
(County Route 23).
From this end, Pheasant Mountain Trail follows an unmaintained
logging road through some old clear-cut forest for approximately
0.85 mile. At this point the road ends and the trail, marked with
blue diamonds, begins its ascent through a hardwood forest of black
birch, oaks and maples following an old tram road for a short
distance. The trail then becomes a single track to its intersection
with the former Mail Route Trail. My father retired from the USPS
and I don't think he would've enjoyed this route during his
delivery days.LOL
I hope you enjoy and please take proper precautions during
hunting season. Primarily during the two week buck gun season that
begins Thanksgiving week.
