Geocache Description:

A small Geocache near a sugar-house in the southern Adirondacks that can best be found around March - April.

This small, plastic, green covered cache is a sweet find, located around an old sugar-house on the south side of route 8 in Lake Pleasant New York.
Please park on the side of the road to prevent getting stuck on the sugar house's muddy driveway during winter - spring. The sugar-house is open to the public around sugar season. (late March -early April) The cache is there year round.
WARNING:
When looking for the cache, please don't fallow William & Anne Weaver's Driveway up the hill. The Sugar House's hidden driveway is further east down Route 8. I hope you will come and enjoy a spring feeling and scent of the great Adirondacks.

History:
The Weavers (Webers) have been boiling sap into syrup since the mid 1700s. They were part of a group called the German Palintines, who came over to America during the early 1700's on a ship called the Globe. Many of these Germans settled along the Mohawk Vally in an area called German Flatts. The Palintines learned from the Native American Tribes how to gather sap and boil it into syrup.

Weavers Sugar bush was built in 1917 by Peter L. Weaver, who came to Airdville (Today Lake Pleasant) from the Town of Wells. Many buildings he has built are still standing today. The most famous building he built is the Mountian Vew Inn, which is seen clearly down the route 8, west of the sugar house. People say this is one of the best places to take pictures of an Adirondack Sunset. Just park in front of the gate to the Transfer Station after 5pm (visit link)
