Another off shore lighthouse so no paddling! Part of the Cornish Lighthouse series. Each cache contains a part co ordinate for the final lighthouse. Each cache has a view of it's own lighthouse and may be claimed as such. Longships is approx 1.25 off Land,s End. The original tower was built in 1795 by Lieut Henry Smith under licence from Trinity House. The orig tower was only 40' high so often obliterated by high seas Ataller tower was completed in 1873 but even then disaster struck. The Bluejacket ran onto the rocks right under the the lighthouse on a clear night in 1898. The lighthouse has been unmanned since 1967. In high season ther are lots of muggles about so beware. The cache is on level ground but prickles may give yo a hard time!
