Deceangi: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Geocache Description:

A Traditional Cache, which should be a quick Cache and Dash from the M1 Junction 20, approx 2 minutes away. Easy parking, Due to the change of size of this cache (see below for details) Travel Bugs will struggle to catch a lift from here

One of Lutterworth’s claims to fame is that Frank Whittle worked here between 1938 & 1945 and developed the Jet Engine, which was to change air transport for ever

The buildings he used are still in existence, the Ladywood Works, on the Leicester Road. Development moved to Whetstone in 1946, whilst the Ladywood site was still used as a Training school.

The aircraft that you should be standing near is a replica of the E28/39 Gloster (Whittle) prototype, which was the first Jet Engined aircraft to fly in the United Kingdom. It flew from RAF Cranwell in 1941, and was the forerunner to the first Jet Engined Fighter aircraft, the Gloster Meteor

The original prototype is in the British Science Museum, London, with another replica at Farnborough.

Update 13th June 2010

This cache has been relocated from its previous position, due to being muggled three times now. It is now a micro and while I am not a fan of micros, it will serve its purpose until something bigger can be arranged. You can park either in the Travelodge car park or the Elms car park.

The cache is located a short distance from a bench where you can take in the aircraft properly. Retrieving the cache will be a stretch so please bear this in mind.

Being a Motorway Mayhem, this isn't meant to be hard, but please replace cache as discretely as you can
