Geocache Description:

A cache hidden near to the highest point on Strumble Head in remotest West Wales. My 5 year old daughter managed the terrain fine, but finding the cache involves some scrambling over rocks, which may be slippy if wet. Take care.

A beautiful spot on a wild, rugged peninsular right on the western edge of Wales. Fantastic panoramic views in summer (nothing but mist, fog and wind for most of the winter)!

Interestingly, the cache is within a short distance of 3 generations of navigational aid. To the North is Strumble Head lighthouse. To the South-East a radio beacon (looks a bit like a flying saucer) which marks the start of an air corridor used by transatlantic flights from the UK to the US. Thirdly, less than 100 metres from the cache is an Ordnance Survey GPS datum post. All 3 can be seen on a good clear day.

There are two ways to approach the cache. The easiest is to park in the free car park at N52 00 538 W005 03 666 and follow the short path that leads from it. The harder way is to go on the footpath that starts from the Youth Hostel on the coast itself - this quite a tough climb.

The cache is a small Tupperware box containing a number of toys and novelties together with a log book and disposable camera. Feel free to take your own picture and return camera back into cache. Original contents also included 2 Travel Bugs.
