Kurze Wanderung (ca. 4 km eine Strecke) zum "Ausgebrannten Stein".
Short hike (approx. 4 km a distance) to the "Ausgebrannter Stein".
Vom vorgeschlagenen Parkplatz (N50 42.322 E10 44.037) geht es auf gut ausgebauten Wanderwegen durch den Thüringer Wald. Nach knapp 4 km erreicht ihr einen Porphyrfelsen, aus dem vor über 300 Jahren durch abwechselnde Anwendung von Feuer und eiskaltem Wasser ein Tunnel herausgesprengt wurde, den Ausgebrannten Stein. Er war Bestandteil des Flößgrabens, der dazu diente, Holz aus dem Herzogtum Gotha zur Ohra zu flößen. Am Nord"Portal" lasst den Blick bergan schweifen und sucht dann den Cache. From the suggested parking site (N50 42.322 E10 44.037) you can hike on well developed footpaths through the Thuringian forest. After just 4 km you reach a porphyry rock from which more than 300 years ago by alternate application of fire and ice-cold water a tunnel was disrupted out of the stone, the "Ausgebrannter Stein" (burnt-out stone). It was a component of the Flößgraben, which was used to raft timber from the dukedom Gotha to the river Ohra. From the north entrance look uphill and search the cache.
