What's for Pudding? Traditional Geocache

The Pudding Stone is a fairly famous rock that has had climbers bouldering on it for many years. It was brought to the attention of walkers by inclusion in Wainright's guidebook. It lies on the eastern side of Coniston Old Man and offers fine views.

While it isn't actually named on the OS maps Boulder Valley is, and the Pudding Stone is the most famous rock in the area. It really does have the shape of a pudding and the cache title is one of Freya's favourite sayings!

There are many routes around the Copper Mines Valley - too many to mention. Pick an option and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Of note is a good path that traverses NE across the hillside under Grey Crag. It follows an old leat that moved water from Low Water Beck to Levers Water Beck. Park in the village or at the top of the Walna Scar road, SD 288 970. The walk in from Walna Scar is the easiest approach.

The cache is a large sized black L&L box. From the Stone, head east. It can be found to the left of the obvious standing finger of rock. It's between 3 big boulders/rocks! Search with your back to the Pudding Stone. Please ensure the lid is on well and no rocks need placing on top.  There is an alternative 'letterbox' hide over nearer the path and it doesn't match this clue and isn't this cache.

Caution: watch out for old copper and slate workings. Don't enter any tunnels unless you know what you're doing.
