Goodnight moon.
Goodnight sky.
Goodnight stars.
Goodnight all. I close my eyes.
Oh, what have I done? What horrid offence against the universe?
Bah! What offence indeed! The world exists when my thoughts give it wing!
And when I sleep it all is gone.
No guilt! No shame. Nor grumbling word.
If all exists in the blink of an eye, and that eye be mine, what difference then if good or bad!
Neither evil nor good defines our lot.
Why then this curse that hounds me so? Damnation rests upon my waking thought!
It lingers so… just there.
But cursed man who cursed me, it shall be his to pay the price!
I am the wretch who will not yield. The hopeless have no hope.
What have I done indeed.
Poor man. He came by at an unseemly hour.
What he saw gave such a start he died right there in the pale moonlight.
Poor man, poor man. Quite a shame. He could not run, fear struck him lame.
Postman , postman come on by. Return to sender what little remains.
Goodnight moon.
Goodnight sky.
Goodnight stars.
Goodnight all. I close my eyes.
No guilt. No shame. Nor grumbling word.
