Geocache Description:

An easy level walk of approximately 1 mile along footpaths and a disused railway. The paths can get very muddy after rainfall, so wellies may be in order. You may see some relics of this bygone railway en route. This area is also popular with dog walkers, so please be wary once you are at the site. For the night-cachers amoungst you, we think this one fits the bill. Parking can be found at:
N51° 54.386’ W001° 07.783’

This path was once part of a short branch line which was built between the wars, it linked RAF Bicester with the LNER line between Oxford and Bletchley. The line was closed on 28th August 1957.
RAF Bicester was opened in 1917 and was first used by the Royal Flying Corps. The airfield ceased to be active in 1976 and has been used for gliding and private aviation since then. Most of the original wartime buildings remain and many are listed by English Heritage, unfortunately they are off limits to the public. There has of course, been housing/industry plans for the airfield but nothing has yet been confirmed.

On a recent maintenance trip, we forgot to take a pen so you will need one! The cache is a medium sized lock and lock box, containing the usual array of trinkets.
