The Little Whistler wanted his very own cache. He chose the container and the contents (including the logbook) all by himself, but dad helped him pick the hiding spot.
Parking is at the Rails to Trails trailhead. The gate is generally open during trout season, but driving through is entirely at your own risk. The terrain is three-tenths of a mile of flat trail, then 100' or so of a more rugged trail down towards the river to a nice fishing spot. We didn't have very good accuracy down there, but you are looking for an ammo can so there are not too many likely hiding spots! Please make sure to rehide the container well because there are often fisherman in the area.
Note: The foundations of cut stone you will see at GZ are remnants of the bridge abutments from the original Owego Turnpike, which opened in 1821 and was the route between Owego, New York and Milford, PA.
