Subarite: I had a report the cache was missing so off I went to check it out. The river has been in flood and even now is deep and fast flowing. What it was like when the cache "dissapeared" (down stream) I can only imagine. From the photo you can see the water level was higher than the cache was placed, at the base of the tree to the left of the footbridge.
The stile at the start of the path is still not accessible (see photo). The ford is also still 4 feet deep and the road is closed. When the river was in flood some cars that foolishly tried to ford the river were washed down stream.
I won't be placing another cache quite so close to water.
