Freshwater campground is a great spot. Last time we hired the group
area and had it all to ourselves. Running water and hot showers are
all on site.
The group area is a no-go for camper trailers unfortunately as
there are bollards blocking the way but I'm sure a few strong lads
can lift them over, or failing that the trailers can use the
individual sites and we can congregate in the group area for
festivities.
There will be plenty of caching and 4WDing during the weekend of
course. You do need a 4WD to get here I'm afraid but I don't mind
doing a run down to Rainbow Beach (which you can get to by road) to
pick up any of those who want to join in the fun but don't have
access to a 4WD.
For those non 4WD owners who are keen to have a go, there are
plenty of places in Rainbow Beach where you can hire a Landcruiser
for the day. If you've always wanted to give beach driving a go,
now's your chance. That's all for now. More details will follow
