Couple of Hours or less than 30 minutes hiking to cache, depends on where you park.
Easter Mountain is located in Sharon Mtn's section of the Housatonic State Forest in Sharon. Take W. Cornwall Road from Route 7 or Caulkinstown Rd. From Rt. 41 (Gay St.) in Sharon. The entrance to the forest is on the north side of road (for the long walk of 1.8 miles to trail head) Park at N 41D 53.288' W 073D 24.775 and follow the road most travelled. For the short walk of 15 minutes drive on road most travelled to your first triangle intersection, stay left and park fifty feet ahead at trail head on left.
Found a Geodetic Mt. Easter Marker on the way and an older removed one.
This forest does have some no trespass areas where native and endangered species grow, please heed the signs (none near cache) otherwise enjoy the beavers, timber rattlers and black bears this forest is famous for. Savage castanet dancer is the latin name for timber rattler. Sharon Mountain is renouned for them keep your eyes and ears open. Beautiful view from here in the winter (snow shoed in last few years)
For beaver enthusiasts (continue 7/10 mile further past trail head and find N41D 54.516' W 073D 23.388' There are more than six generations of beavers on this pond. Head WSW for a look at a 200' long beaver dam and look NNE for original lodge by rock ledge (the new one is apparent. Bon Voyage!
