Geocache Description:

This used to be the main road from Durban to the interior. In the early days it was a mudslide in summer. A tollgate once operated at the crest of the hill. The funds raised went to pay for the hardening of Durban's roads. Berea Road
The cache is not located inside the block of flats or near the entrance.



The Toll House was opened in 1866 and the Toll Keepers name was Harry Bird. In the early 1900's the house was relocated to no 11 Kloof Falls Dr. There is little info on this Toll Gate so i doubt that i will find more information. Going through all the photos showed me the most incredible changes in Durbans history.
