Roos Tor is a tor not far from Peter Tavy with great views of the surrounding area.
Roos Tor is encircled by a series of fourteen pillars each with an incised “B”. Near at least twelve of them, cut into the surface of a natural rock, is a device consisting of a circle about 10 inches in diameter with a central bisecting line. These marks were set up in about 1880, in an area of intensive granite working, to indicate the protective limits imposed by the then Duke of Bedford on the taking of stone. Roos Tor has a military flag pole in its summit but it is well outside the firing range and can be visited even when the flag is flying.
Please be aware there is a letterbox nearby, finding the letterbox does not count as a find.
