Located in the Center Branch WMA, outside Nutter Fort, WV.
I was also the recipient of one of the ScoutingWV’s ammo can’s. Even though we work together he still made me go find mine also with the coordinates. The coordinates he gave me were also off, but that’s before he acquired the XJKS 8000000.
The cache is located in the Center Branch WMA. The WMA is a reclaimed strip mine. You will still see railroad track and a coal tipple in the area on some maps, but they are long gone. Remember, this is a Wildlife Management Area. Wear your blaze orange during hunting seasons. Also, you will likely see wildlife. When placing the cache I saw deer, squirrel, doves, and a small snake. Be careful reaching into stuff.
This was my first time into this area. I've got some exploring to do. The view isn't much right now, but I bet it's something once the leaves fall.
Parking is at 39 14.220N 080 19.539W. When I placed the cache the gate across the road was open. There was no sign tell vehicles to stay out, but I parked here anyway. On the way to the cache I found that the road was being used for a drilling operation on adjacent property.
To place the cache I walked the road. It’s about a 1 mile hike. Hike to 39 13.812N 080 20.032W. This is the top of the hill. You will gain approximately 400 feet in elevation. Turn out the trail to the final location. The container is a .50 caliber ammo can. Please re-hide as well as it was hidden. The FTF prize is labeled in a white envelope.
Bushwacking will cut the travel distance in about half. If you choose to bushwack, I have to quote the minister from Blazing Saddles: “Son, you’re on your own.”
I saw a small, non-poisonous snake while looking for my final hiding spot, so beware.
I rated this cache with the tool provided on the cache submission page. It seems less than what some may rate it.
