Smitten Traditional Cache
Twoshedspete: Too busy with work to maintain geocaches at the moment unfortunately so archiving the lot. Life is not a rehearsal but sometimes you can't do what you want to do. One day I will regenerate these fine caches... Don't be too judgemental - it'll happen to you one day...

One of PetertheBruce's "nice places" in SE Notts this requires a stroll along the River Smite, the Vale of Belvoir's very own river. The cache is in a surprise conservation area but is near the bridlepath to avoid trampling of wild flora. Not really suitable for pushchairs, bikes etc.
The Smite collects its water from the escarpment at the South edge of the Vale of Belvoir. It then starts a relaxed and lengthy route to the Trent, changing its name to the Devon ("Dee-von") before joining the bigger river at Newark. The river is slow, peaceful, undramatic but pleasant - as is the surrounding countryside. Small villages joined by narrow, traffic-free roads make this area a popular attraction for walkers, runners, cyclists, naturalists etc. If you like peace and quiet, this cache site is a gem. Please respect the conservation work in hand at this small patch of native woodland. Part of it is fenced off to keep the wildlife undisturbed.
The cache is within 2m of the track to avoid excessive trampling. It is another Morrison's geocaching specials - a small, plastic screw lid container which holds small items only.
Parking is best at thw waypoint below. I set up the cache on a clear day but the coordinates were buzzing around from one number to another quite wildly. Please suggest alternative coordinates to help me check their accuracy.
