Geocache Description:

Hunting for this multi micro cache will take you on a small walk in Solvang Kollonihage in Oslo. The given coordinates are for the starting point of the walk. It points to a small red house which is a café which is open every now and then, typically summer Sundays 14-16, but mostly closed.

The phenomenon of "Kolonihage" startet in the late middle ages in Europe to enable the poorer people in the towns to grow their own food, and also to give the workers something to do in their spare time and thereby keep them away from bars.

"Kolonihage" are called "Allotment and Leisure Gardens" in English, "des Jardins Familiaux " in French, and "Klein Garten" in German. In Europe there are more than 3 million individual gardens today and in Oslo you will find about 1050 of them. More info in Norwegian.

Solvang Kolonihage has been around for more than 75 years and is one of the largest Kolonihager in Oslo. Its location is one of the best as it lies on a hill facing south over viewing Oslo and the fjord.

The best time for a visit is during the summer when the flowering is at its most magnificent. Many of the houses are very well kept and with lots of ornamentations, small statues, smart solutions and great gardeners as inhabitants. Don't walk too fast or else you will miss out on many enchanting gardens!

You need to visit the following places and answer the questions to find out where the micro cache is hidden:

Position 1: N59 57.587 E10 43.439
a = The number of panes ("glass tiles") in the window on the door of the small red cafe house.

Position 2: N59 57.439 E10 43.567
b = The "street number" on the yellow house closest to the walk way.

Position 3: N59 57.406 E10 43.787
c = Number of letters in the street sign going north/south by the white house.

Correct coordinates are: N59 57.((c*2)+1)0 E10 43.(b+(a*a))

Note that the last digit in the north coordinate is zero, and ((c*2)+1) should result in a number with two digits.

The cache is a micro and should be available during winter and so are the clues. However, snow is never removed from the walk ways and the Kolonihage is a very, very, very dull place during winter and early spring. So its highly recommended that you visit during late spring, summer and early autumn. The muggler density is higher at this time of the year, but the cache is placed with this in mind although some stealth might be required.

There are plenty of parking spaces in the area, but these are also used by the inhabitants of the Kolonihage so at times finding an empty place is difficult. Public transport: Buss 25 stops at Nordbergveien and T-bane 3 stops at Kringsjå. You may also start at Ullevål Stadion (ca. 1,5 km from the starting point) where there is easy parking and where T-bane 3 and 5, bus 23, 25 and Flybussen stops.
