Beam Me Up! Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Geofogies: Both stages of this cache are missing and the removal of invasive species in this forest preserve is ongoing--evidently Beam Me Up was one of the invasive species caught up in the work. A report in our local newspaper last week stated that the "Friends of Somme" and the forest preserve will continue this work into next year. This isn't a good time to spend hours fabricating a cache that will obviously not belong there and will probably be removed again, so we are reluctantly archiving Beam Me Up. It had a good run and we want to thank all of those who visited it over the years.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

NOTE* We've had to repair the cache twice after physical strength rather than mental strength was used on the cache. Brute force is not required at either stage of this cache. Use your brain here and when you figure it out, you'll have what you need without forcing anything.

NOTE** Please see the June 17, 2010, log recounting a cacher's experience with a coyote near the cache. The howling coyote approached the cacher and his dog after the dog had chased the coyote. Please be alert and careful in the forest preserve; coyotes are frequently seen in many of the area forest preserves.

THE CACHE

Brian's back! Brian is visiting us again and he suggested we place another cache together. That means shopping, fabricating, lifting, toting--in short, working. Well, he is our son, and we want him to be happy, so here's the cache.

This cache is a two-parter which will take you on a walk in a local forest preserve. It's designed to make you think a bit at part one, but you don't need to do any research, and you don't need any special strength. At part one you will take the coordinates for part two. Please leave mother nature alone and do not use any sticks, rocks, leaves, etc. to access the cache. After signing the log please put everything back just the way you found it.

The cache container is large enough to hold a small travel bug or other small trade items. There is an FTF prize--an unactivated geocoin that you can activate and send out as a travel bug or keep for your personal collection.

Have fun out there--it's all about having a good time.
