The cache is located just east of chimney rock. Although I never had to scramble on hands and knees, the hike is rated as a 4 due to its unique location. It's located at about 9800'. It's in the Sandia Mountains .6 of a mile down chimney rock trail.
The cache is an ammo box and contains a first to find prize, log book w/pen and pencil, rabbit, geocoin, travel bug and other misc. items. To place this cache me and my hiking buddy were dropped of by my wife at Sandia Crest, from here it is a short walk north on the crest trail to the Chimney Canyon trail head. (Mike Coltrin's hiking guide to the sandias will help). N 35 13.089 W 106 27.085.
It is .6 of a mile down this trail. It can be seen easily if you look in the right place. As always be very careful on remote trails. NOT a hike for small children or animals! We continued down the trail to where it joined La Luz and finished the hike at La Luz parking lot. 4.46 miles. A fantastic view hiking this trail. Take water and food. Plan on 4 to 6 hrs. Good Luck
