(NEI-GEO) 2nd Annual Pokagon Cacher's Campout! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Herd: Thanks all. Would of archived awhile ago, but was waiting on a few bugs to leave. Most bugs and coins are personal, and probably just laying around as a storage area until the next great event.

Happy caching, hope to do it again next year.

Pokagon State Park is a beautiful State Park located in Angola, Indiana. It is just 16 miles south of Coldwater, Michigan off of I-69. (Exit 154) There is a wonderful campground offering 273 sites, both non-electric and modern. All campgrounds in the Park have modern bathroom facilities. The Park offers over 12 miles of hiking trails, a 1.6-mile bike trail, bike rental, horseback riding, several playgrounds, 2 beaches (though they probably won't be used in September), and a Nature Center that offers many programs that the entire family would enjoy. (You can pick up a schedule at the front gate or at the Nature Center. They are also posted on bulletin boards in each campground.) For those of you who do not prefer to camp, there are cabins, as well as an Inn.

Many of the activities enjoyed last year will be back! Closest to the pin, the ridiculous event cache, a Lewis & Clark event cache, a special presentation on prescribed burns and ammo cans, and of course night caching! We will be having a potluck dinner Saturday evening, and there will be electricity in the pavilion we are using. Whether you have it at your site or not is up to you. We would recommend making reservations as soon as possible, as this park can get full quick. If you reserve online, you have to reserve two nights, which would work well for this event as there will be night caching Saturday and social time Friday night.

For camping reservations you can go to:
www.camp.IN.gov

For Inn Reservations you can go to:
Potawatomi Inn Reservations (BOOKED FULL AS OF 9/11)

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING A RAFFLE ITEM! If you have questions on what to bring please email me. Also, please don't forget to sign up for your dish to pass for the potluck by posting a note on this site stating what you are going to be bringing! Last year we had some AWESOME food!

In addition the USDA does patrol the campgrounds on weekends, and does hand out fines up to $500 a log for second and third time offenders!
