Tray's Pinos Hotel Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Geocachers of the Bay Area
At the turn of the last century, Tres Pinos was a thriving rail stop. Locals pronounced their town's name "Tray's Penis" This cache is at the historical marker for the long-gone Tres Pinos Hotel.

This is one of the most peculiar historical monuments we have seen - it was placed by E Clampus Vitis. We never stopped to read it until we started geocaching. Now you can stop, too. Directly across the street from the only gas station, you will be visible to whatever traffic is passing by.

Just two doors down is a great breakfast / lunch spot: Flapjacks. Tres Pinos is the last "civilization" for about 70 miles if you're heading south from here.

FTF - Congrats to Fisherwoman and DavidT21 who found it early Saturday morning by curiously investigating "why isn't there a cache here?" Well, good thing there was one ! >
