Head for Red Head Rd. in Saint John and on that sharp bend look for the Old Red Head Rd. There are numerous paths to the cache and some bush wacking maybe required, however parking @ N45 15.170 W066 00.778 provides the most direct route with little to no wacking. This cache is well hidden so please hide as well as found.
In 1864, work began on the construction of a nine gun battery at Red Head Point. Two magazines and a few wooden buildings completed the position. The battery was not manned during the 1866 Fenian threat and caretaker Robert Cochrane provided a government presence from 1877 to 1881. The battery site was used as a training camp in the early 20th century and during World War One. Its use as a dummy position during World War Two rounded off its military history.
