The Urban Farm Museum Society is a registered charity that has created an urban farm on the Kidston land in the heart of Spryfield.
The group was formed in the late 1990s and has continued to grow, flourish and engage more and more families in its operation. The members promote community spirit, facilitate urban food growing and celebrate Spryfield's rich agricultural history.
Not only is gardening a great way to be physically active, but there are numerous social and economic benefits derived from involvement in the Urban Farm. The Urban Farm provides employment opportunities for young people during the summer months and the special events which are hosted bring
visitors to the community, positively impacting the economy of the area.
The Farm is involved in various programs for young and old. Some examples are a seed exchange/purchase day, Seedy Saturday on March 11 2006, and the 'Come Grow with Us' program that teaches children that playing in the dirt can make mud pies and real vegetables.
Thanks to the Urban Farm Museum Society for allowing us to place a cache on their property. Everyone is welcome all year round. During the summer days you may see two legged creatures tending the gardens and in the mornings and evenings four legged creatures often reap the benefits.
Lets show them true geocaching spirit by practicing CITO while at this cache. The grounds are opened from Dawn to Dusk.
NOTE: MAR 17 2006 CACHE IS IN A NEW LOCATION AFTER BEING MUGGLED. PEOPLE WORKING AT THE FARM ARE AWARE OF THE CACHE AND ARE NOT MUGGLES.
