Mattawoman Creek Art Center Mystery Cache

Mattawoman Creek Art Center celebrates the visual arts in a natural setting of peaceful beauty. The renovated one hundred year-old farmhouse is home to the work of some of the finest artists in Southern Maryland. The scenic location on the banks of the Mattawoman Creek inspires the artists who rent the studios on the second floor. Visitors are invited to stroll through the galleries and the sculpture garden. The cache is a small lock and lock. The original contents are an assortment of art supplies. There is also a box in the cache which contains sketch pads, pencils and crayons. If you have an artistic bent, use the sketch pad to render your view of the beautiful scenery at Smallwood State Park.

Day use service charges are $3 per person on weekends and holidays, April through October; $3/vehicle weekdays year round (honor system in effect when toll booth is not staffed). Out-of-state residents add $1 to all day use service charges. Smallwood State Park is open year-round April through October from 5 a.m. to sunset, and November through March 8 a.m. to sunset. Smallwood State Park does not allow pets in its day-use areas.

The MCAC Gallery is only open on Fridays and weekends, but the cache can be accessed whenever the park is open.
