Geocache Description:

An easy drive-up cache inspired by my late Grandpa. I placed this cache after we celebrated his life at the nearby Yawkey Hall in Hazelhurst. I spotted this site and figured that I needed to leave a cache here in honor of "Papa."

If someone could please bring a fresh log for the cache, I would appreciate it. Just post a note if you take care of it for me. Thanks! - andleis

Gana and Papa lived on Lake Katherine for 30-some odd years. You can see their house when you are crossing the bridge on Hwy 51. My family spent many summer and winter days on the lake fishing, skiing, swimming, and generally having fun. In 2000, Gana and Papa moved to South Florida but still spent their summers in the Northwoods.

This is a red-tip capsule. Both ends pop off revealing a logbook, cachenote, and pencil. The cache container is waterproof, but I could see it being difficult to open in the winter. Do be careful whilst opening as to not snap off the "added component." You will understand what that is when you see it.

If the plows come though this cache may become buried in snow. In that case, your patience will come in handy.

I am now living in Northern California so if cache maintanence is required, Huntforit, a local cacher has agreed to take that up. Thanks Huntforit! In addition, if you find that the coordinates are a bit off - please take a waypoint and include it in your log. It was a rainy, cloudy day and my batteries were low. They will get you close and I am sure you will find it. (Garmin eTrex)

Good luck, have fun, and keep caching!
