A sometimes difficult hike or a pleasant canoe ride to the most Northwesterly geocache in Wisconsin.
This cache is in Wisconsin though it is surrounded on 3 sides by Minnesota. Many travelers along Hwy 23 are not aware that they are in Wisconsin from the St Louis river to the Carlton county border.
Anyone hiking to the cache must start in Minnesota because the land in Wisconsin from
N46deg 39.770 min south to Hwy 23 is privately owned.
A handy parking spot is at N 46 39.275 W 092 17.583
My journey to the cache was 1.5 miles with .6 miles bushwacking with some steep hills and brush. I have not tried boat access which is much shorter and easier.
Cache container is an ammo box.
