Cette cache est caché sur l'historique route "La Via Francigena",
qui a été utilisée par des pèlerins au Moyen Age quand ils allaient
à Rome. L'existence de la Via Francigena était documentée dans le
journal de Sigéric qui était allé à Rome en 990 pour recevoir sa
nomination du pallium, des mains du Pape Jean XV. Plus tard,
St-Maurice devient le portail du nord des principales routes
alpines depuis le Franche-Compté et le Piermont. Ca a determiné
l'importance militaire de cette place et le constant intérêt de
construire ici des fortifications. Le cache est caché auprès de
l'entrée à Cindey, la part du système des plus grandes
fortifications réunies de Dailly, Savatan, Scex construites à
partir du 1892.
This cache is hidden on the historic route "La Via Francigena"
which was used by piligrims in the middle ages in their way to
Rome. The existence of the Via Francigena was first documented in a
diary left behind by the Archbishop Sigéric of Canterbury who went
to Rome in 990 to receive his nomination pallium or the investiture
mantle from the hands of the Pope Jean XV. Later on St-Maurice
becomes the northern portal of the principal alpine transit routes
between the Franche-Compté and the Piemont. This determined the
military importance of the place and the constant interest of
erecting fortifications there. The cache is hidden close to the
entrance to Cindey - the part of a system of connecting
fortifications, consisting notably of the larger forts of Dailly,
Savatan, Scex, built from 1892 onwards.
