Geocache Description:

Ten zuiden van het limburgse Echt ligt een klein maar prachtig natuurreservaat: De Doort.
Deze naam is een verbastering van "d'ort" wat uiterste of uiteinde betekend. Het gebied ligt dan ook aan de zuidgrens van het vroegere Gelder.
In het limburgse dialect wordt de naam overigens nog steeds zoals vroeger uitgesproken…

De route van zo'n 4km voert door een afwisselende omgeving van weidelandschap, loofbos en moerasgebied.
Omdat het pad na regenval op sommige plaatsen glad kan zijn, is stevig schoeisel een vereiste.
Natuurliefhebbers, neem de verrekijker mee! Er is een reële kans dat er een ijsvogel, vuurlibelle of boomkikker gespot kan worden!

Tijdens de wandeling aub het pad niet verlaten en de hond aan de lijn houden. Staatsbosbeheer stelde deze voorwaarde ter bescherming van de fragiele natuur.
Houdt u aub hieraan!

Alleen voor het lichten van de cache zijn een paar stappen naast het pad nodig. (3-4 m)

TIP! Deze cache is perfect te combineren met GCQA0X - 'Juffrouw Zonder Kop' van Kleine Welp.

WAARSCHUWING!
Ik wil u erop wijzen, dat vlakbij de parkeerplaats Reuzenberenklauw groeit.
Deze mooie, 2 tot 3 meter hoge planten zijn zeer gevaarlijk bij aanraking! Het sap dat dan vrijkomt, kan onder invloed van zonlicht zwaar huidletsel veroorzaken.
Houd daarom uw kinderen alstublieft uit de buurt van deze planten!

A small but beautiful nature-reserve called "De Doort" is situated south of the limburgian village Echt.
The name derived from the old dutch word "d'ort" which means end. As the area is located at the former border of the old land Gelder, the name makes sense.

The 4km hike leads through meadow, forrest and marsh.
Because the pathway can be slippery after rainfall, it is advisable to wear stirdy shoes.
If you bring your dog, please keep it on the leash. Do not leave the path. This is only nescesary to lift the cache (app. 3m from the path).

TIP! This cache can be combined perfectly with GCQA0X - 'Juffrouw Zonder Kop' by Kleine Welp.

WARNING!
Plants known as Giant Hogweed are growing in the direct neighbourhood of the parking .
Giant Hogweed is a public health hazard. Skin contact followed by exposure to sunlight produces painful,
burning blisters that may develop into purplish or blackened scars.
Please keep your children far away from these plants!
