Grassy Hill Natural Area Preserve - Rocky Mount, VA
The Grassy Hill hiking trail system is a brand new set of trails in the 1,295 acre Grassy Hill Natural Area Preserve. The area was established in 1998 with the purpose of protecting rare plants and habitat. Be gentle in your travels here. No bikes are allowed. The slope trail (1.5 miles) takes you from the parking lot to the ridge where there are two loop trails connected by a short link. Altogether there are over 6 miles of newly developed hiking trails here. The cache is located on the eastern loop.
This is a four stage multi cache that starts near the parking lot / trailhead and takes you all the way to the ridge. Plan for plenty of time to hike, find the stages which are fairly close to the trail and enjoy the great trails. Two of the stages are natural objects in keeping with the character of the area.
