A plaque on West Blvd in front of the Old Pioneer Museum
reads:
This 3-stage cache will take you to the top of Founders Rock. I
been up there several times and haven't seen the marker that is
mentioned, so I don't know if it's still around anymore.
Stage 1 (N44°05.278' W103°14.778')
A good place to park is on West
Chicago Street in front of where the old meat packing plant used to
be. Recently it has been cleaned up and there is a black canvas
fence about 2 ft high. Walk along the south side of that fence and
don't cross the gravel area because it is still private property.
Once past the gravel area, take the well-graveled road on up to
stage 1. When you are close, leave the road and take the trail. The
coordinates of the 2nd stage are hidden in a small pill
container.
Stage 2
At this point you will leave the main
trail. The coordinates of the final stage are hidden in York mints
tin. You will have to meander your way toward the final stage.
There is a faint trail you can follow, but you might lose it a few
times.
Final Stage
The letterbox is hidden near the
sandstone cliff but not on it. After you have logged in, traded,
and stamped up, rehide it the way you found it with wood only. I
don't want to encourage anyone to take rocks from the cliff and use
them for cache camo for obvious reasons. From the cliff you should
be able to see Harney Peak and possibly Storm Hill if you know
where to look.
You will notice that people have carved their own name in the
rock. Please respect the history of this place. Don't add your own
name and tread lightly. Carve a stamp and put it in the cache if
you want to carve something. It might be fun. :)
Don't forget to bring your personal letterboxing stamp, stamp
pad, and log book if you have them! The box does not have an ink
pad in it. If you're not familiar with letterboxing, you need to
know that the stamp is not a trade item and stays with the
cache.
