En raison de la construction d’un énorme blockhaus, toujours visible,cette commune fut soumise aux raids de l’aviation alliée de janvier à juillet 44. 30 000 bombes dévastèrent les 300 hectares de son territoire, et le village fût abandonné. Le blockhaus était destiné à la fabrication et au lancement des fusées V1. de nombreux travailleurs prisonniers soviétiques laissèrent leur vie dans sa construction.

En 1949 la reconstruction commença selon des procédés de préfabrication visant à réduire les coûts et reloger ainsi tout les habitants dans les limites des dommages de guerre.. Il est aujourd’hui un modèle du genre et son petit air canadien lui confère un charme particulier.

Une petite balade dans le village vous donnera accès à la cache.

Because of the construction of an enormous blockhouse, always visible, this commune was subjected to the raids of the allied aviation from January to July 44. 30 000 bombs devastated the 300 hectares of its territory, and the village was abandoned. The blokhaus was intended for the manufacture and the launching of the V1 rockets. many Soviet captive workers left their life in his construction.

In 1949 the rebuilding started according to processes' of prefabrication aiming to reduce the costs and to thus rehouse all the inhabitants within the limits of the war damagees. It is today a model of the kind and its small Canadian air confers a particular charm to him.
