Geocache Description:

Welcome back to this popular cache updated in May 2010. This is a
pleasant stroll of less than 3 km along part of Ferndown Common. I
have included some waypoints to make navigation a bit easier and
one easy clue. Parts of the route can be muddy in the winter or
after heavy rain so stout shoes required in poor weather.

The whole of Ferndown Common is a Site of Special Scientific
Interest (SSSI) so please keep to the paths and minimise
disturbance to the environment. There is one clue to find before
the final cache which is outside of the SSSI. You could cycle this
but some of the paths are narrow. If you do take a bike DO NOT
enter the clearly signed no cycling area - there are no clues
inside the no cycling area and it is easy to route around.

Initial coordinates are for PARKING at The Angel Inn - good beer,
great food! Start off by crossing the road at the traffic lights
and enter the common at: N 50º 47.589' W 1º 54.132.

For a short tour, you can route via:

N 50º 47.868' W 1º 54.197'

N 50º 47.762' W 1º 54.398'

N 50º 47.930' W 1º 54.491'

Or go direct to the clue at
N 50º 47.849' W 1º 54.669'

The Clue is:
"What percentage remains of our heathland heritage?" = XY%

The cache is at:
N 50º 47.707' W Xº 54.Y4Y'

Lookout for bomb craters! Keep heading down the lane and
turn left at Greenacres to complete the circuit back to the pub.
