The above coords are for a parking area next to a small pond.
The actual cache is hidden at the source of the water feeding
the pond. There is a spring there, a metal barrel and a drinking
cup VERY NEAR the cache.
This pond was actually a Reservoir for a coal mining operation
or small town down stream or down hill from the pond. It was
designed where the water that drains comes off the top (the warmer
water) and it's spring fed, so all summer it's too cold to swim
in.
If you hike and explore downstream from the pond you might find
remnants of an overhead pipe system, the remnants of the town and
even the closed off opening to the coal mine shaft. The gorge below
the pond is one of the areas best leek hunting areas around.
Please pickup any litter around the spring head, but do not
remove the cup there!
This is on Allegheny National Forest property, and the access
road should be open now year round thanks to the oil and gas
operations in the area. In years past, it was just open during
hunting season.
It's a fairly small container (about the size of a coffee mug)
so bring small trades.
Please don't give the location or the name of the road in, as I
want to make this as hard as possible.
