CommUnity Trails are located
on the west side of Sandy stream off of Rt. 202 in Unity
Maine. Easy walking along well defined trail.
This trail hugs the west side of Sandy Stream providing nice
views and a great opportunity to see wildlife such as deer and many
species of birds. This is a great place to fish and is
frequented by fisherman throughout spring and summer. Of
course the mosquitoes are very abundant in the area, so be prepared
with plenty of bug spray. Dogs are welcome, Mountain bikes
also but there are locations that they will have to be carried a
short ways, 25-50 feet at most. Canoes and kayaks might be
able to attempt this in the spring or at high water. I've
never put a canoe or kayak in Sandy stream but in looks possible
with some short portages over a couple rocky areas. May not
be suitable for young children.
Trail starts to the left of the kiosk, parking is
available within feet of the trail head at
N 44 36.447 W069 20.298.
The walk is about a 1.25 miles round trip, path starts out
approximately 6 feet wide and at the half way point turns into a
well defined foot path.
