Geocache Description:

Gunpowder Project: SASQUATCH

The story you are about to read is true!

It all began about 12 years ago, before this park was popular with the city folk, who like to hike, bike, and run. I would come here to fish and hike and occasionally do a little rafting. I typically was by myself.

It was late September, and the leaves had just started to strut their fall colors. I decided this would be a wonderful day for a hike, as it turns out, I was right! It was about six o'clock in the evening and I had just reached the starting point of my hike that day. I took note of a small sparrow stocking up on necessities for the winter. I drew a deep breath, and started walking. I felt like taking a different trail system than the one I hiked earlier that week. It could only have been a few hundred feet from where I began, a large steep hill just begging to be climbed.

As I neared about halfway up, a very large, stout, creature of some sort stepped from the brush and released a primal scream that I could never duplicate. My first reaction was "flight", and run I did. Back down at the bottom of the hill, I turned to look back and saw nothing. "What just happened?", I asked myself. I sat for a minute letting my breath catch up to the rest of me, and started to wonder just what it was. Curious as I am, and a little wise, I thought that I probably scared him as well, which explains "his" actions. I thought he more than likely ran too! I cautiously made my way to the top of the steep hill, and stopped to look around. Here you will find your first cache container. As I peered into the ever darkening woods, I noticed "him" again about a football field out, he had to have seen me too! For some reason I wasn't afraid though, I felt a little like the hunter and he was my prey. As I inched closer, he inched further away. I got to a location which seemed precarious enough to explore, this was the last place I saw him. This is where you'll find your final cache container.

I have been here many, many times afterwards, and never saw hide nor hair of "him" again, leading me to believe that he was either killed, or is hiding VERY WELL! I have noted some strange occurences since, but nothing concrete. The first part of your mission is a slightly larger than normal micro, made to blend in year round, with coordinates to the final location, maybe "home"? In any event be very careful when approaching the second stage, one could be severely wounded if you're not using all of you're faculties. There is an acceptable approach to the final cache container, you'll just have to find it. The terrain and difficulty ratings are downright accurate, please take note of them.

Please enjoy this scenic, thought provoking, and chilling cache as much as I enjoyed hiding it! If you by chance are lucky enough to witness anything unusual, please post it here. Pictures would be AWESOME, and you'll probably make the cover of Today's Cacher if you hold anything solid. As always, Have Fun!!!

For best results, attempt this cache one hour before dusk!
