This cache is accessible from several
directions, and can even be reached by paddling across Williams
Lake. No bushwhacking is required; the cache site is visible from a
trail. The path recommended below is rocky and not recommended for
smaller children, bikes or as a night cache. If you take the scenic
route suggested, you can be in and out in less than 50
minutes.
Start at the
end of Theakston Avenue. Walk into the woods about 80 m to cross
the small ravine. This area is near the head of McIntosh Run. (This
urban river system drains Southeast to Herring Cove.) Find a trail
heading East and in about 10 minutes you will encounter Colpitt
Lake. Head North along the shore trail. A 5 minute walk gets you to
a bridge which crosses the outlet of Colpitt Lake. Follow the trail
for another ten minutes as it meanders alongside the stream to
Williams Lake.
For a great view of Williams Lake,
mountain goats can climb the rocks.
The area is networked with trails and
if you are not careful on your trip back you may end up elsewhere
from your starting point!
The area between Theakston and Colpitt
Lake is now under development.
