Dal centro storico di Marciana si imbocca il
sentiero numero 1, tra boschi di lecci e castagni.
Si risale il sentiero fino al romitorio di San Cerbone (a 531 metri
s.l.m.).
Il Romitorio di San Cerbone si trova a monte di Marciana
a circa 531 mt di quota.
L'edificio attuale è stato costruito nel 1421 e restaurato di
recente.
San Cerbone, vescovo di Populonia fuggì sull' Elba per sfuggire
all'invasione delle orde di Gummarith duca dei Longobardi nel 573
(b.c.). Visse gli ultimi due anni della sua vita in una grotta
(ancora visibile) situata poco distante da questo luogo.
Anche il romitorio è circondato da un bosco di castagni e lecci
spettacolari, vecchi di parecchi secoli.
Attenzione: non vi avvicinate alle arnie che troverete
lungo il percorso e non disturbate le api!

From the historical center of Marciana the path is feed
number 1, between forests of evergreen oaks and chestnut trees.
Follow the path until the romitorio (Hermitage) of Saint Cerbone
(at 531 meters s.l.m.).

approximately 531 mt.
The church was built in 1421 and recently restored.
Saint Cerbone, bishop of Populonia, retired here to escape from
the invasion of the orde of Gummarith duke of the Longobardi in the
573 (b.c.).
Cerbone lived the last two years of his life in a cove (still
visible) situated little distant from this place.
The Hermitage is sourraunded from a forest of spectacular
old chestnut trees and evergreen oaks of several
centuries.
BE CAREFUL: not approached the beehives that you will
find along the path and don't disturb the bees!
