The Detroit area 2005 Magellan BE
THERE Adventure (#23) has concluded for this year.
The prizes supplied by Magellan in the cache have been
collected by the winners. But you can still seek the
cache!
This 3 stage cache is easily reachable in almost any season and is
in a park filled with birds, turtles, frogs and other wildlife.
Use the park entrance on Ryan Road north of 22 mile road to get
into the Holland Ponds Park. The park hours are from dawn to dusk.
Because of the abundant wildlife in the park, the mosquitos are not
bad but there are lots of deer flies. Use repellent or swat them
away.
Most of the hike in the park for this cache is on wide gravel
drives with some trail hiking to reach each stage.
Following are the clues released during the week of the
contest. Each Journal Entry was released on a different day
throughout the week and the actual co-ordinates were published on
Saturday morning. Paul of the
Roving Ravenstones was the First To Find for the
contest.

Tip-toeing through Time
Our adventures in Germany have been a total blast. Plus, my
birthday was really cool, including a little “Traveling through
Time.” It’s totally awesome that my dad brought me on this trip so
I could BE THERE in all these cities! It rocks! I love learning
about the adventures of the first-born Afetta, my
great-great-great-grandfather Benedict. It’s also really cool to
see the Geo-Pack be the “American Vanguard” of the Magellan League
and continue the search for the forgotten treasures in the States.
Dutch didn’t tip-toe through that adventure for sure. We’re on our
way home, and after a quick stop at our campylorhynchus house,
we’ll head out on the 1st stage of our next adventure.

Planes, trains, automobiles and boats
Still in Germany, we traveled south a little over 35 kilometers on
the Flying Hamburger. Then we hopped a plane back to the States. We
landed in Phoenix and stopped at home to plan out our next
adventure and take a look at some future possibilities. If I can
talk my dad into it, I’d like to visit GR1. But chances are I won’t
be able to BE THERE until 2007. For now we’ve booked a flight to
pebble township in the Northeast. While adventuring in the Straits
we took a boat out on the unknown lake of 1679 for the 1st stage of
our adventure.

Race
These adventures always seem to be like chasing birds. It’s a big
race at the end, and the winner is whoever deciphers the Journals
the best. I’m glad my dad let me fire the starting gun on this one.
I’ll fire it 13 times to celebrate my birthday and maybe a woman
will be first. BE THERE to see her run in Kalamazoo, hoping for
44th place.

Not coordinates
The home of the little green heron was closed by bad neighbors for
17 years. The house is still closed because the entrance is not
real. However, it has led us to the 2nd stage of our adventure. We
made a stop at N98°04.10,W82°3.000 only to find that the house was
3 fingers too high.

A special thanks to Lost Sailor who first introduced me to
this park by placing the first cache,
Holland Ponds, in it.
