Tired of following his brother around
Kailua, IMBY, not NIMBY, decided to strike off on his own and
head for the Great Pacific Northwest. Twenty six years in the
Hawaiian Islands was enough for him so it was time to settle
in cooler climes and leave the legendary NIMBY far behind. It
was then that IMBY, not NIMBY, discovered the town of Sequim
and all the wonderful places in it!
You may
click here if you wish to study up on the archived
NIMBY.
This is an urban cache, and like the archived
NIMBY, should be rated 0/0 instead of 1/1, but geocaching.com does
not seem to have provisions for 0/0 caches. However, being an urban
cache, it contains risks of its own. The cache is located in the
back yard of two relocated Geocachers who are glad to see fellow
Cachers in the area. But the adjacent homeowners know nothing about
Geocaching and would be less-than-happy to find strangers wandering
around their back yard. So follow the instructions carefully
and you should be fine. If not, we will be more than glad to
provide bail-bond service for the usual and customary
fee.
INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE
READ:
1. The coordinates are coordinates of the
cache, but you may not get very good gps coverage there, so do a
bit of interpolating. You should be within 15 or 20 feet of
the cache before you risk losing a signal. Best approached
from the NORTH, not the south.
2. Please don't park on the main street -
it is too narrow! Instead, park in the cul-de-sac
close by, being especially careful to not block anyone's
driveway. Then, walk across the street with your GPS,
being especially careful to not get run
over.
3. You should see a small footbridge and the
start of a gravel walkway leading up into the back yard. From the
street, peer up the walkway about 20' and look for a park
bench on the right side. If you see the bench, then you are
at the right walkway and you may proceed.
4. When you reach the bench, have a seat.
Please do not proceed beyond the bench, or the relocated
Geocachers might be forced to let loose the vicious poodle girls of
Kailua, and that could get messy. Instead, relax on the
bench and, while you are pondering the complexities of a
double-negative geocache name, you can scan the area in front of
you for the cache.
5. When you spot the cache container, you
will know it! Trust me - there will be no doubt in your mind - you
may have spotted it on the way to the bench. The container,
however, is immovable so it will be necessary to remove the top and
take the innards out. This would be a good time to return to the
bench to sit and study the contents, sign the log, and enjoy the
solitude. Spend as much time on the bench as you like - we're happy
to have Geocachers in the area.
