Geocache Description:

This cache (GCNIKE) is in a park, in the neighbourhood of a statue in Pécs. There are stairs around the statue.
The cache lies under a stair, behind a tree on the east side of the place.
Altitude: 309 m. Look around thoroughly to find it, and pay attention to the people when you open the cache. It's a frequently visited point of the town.

This is the Nike statue, a famous place of interest in Pécs. It made by Makris Agamemnon to the memory of the War of Liberation in 1945.
It's a monumental copper statue inspired by the Nike statue of Samothrace.
The original goddess Nike statue was 2,4 m tall and was created by a Rhodian sculptor sometime around 200 BC.
The Nike statue was discovered on the Aegean island of Samothrace in 1863, and is on permanent display at the Louvre museum in Paris.
Translated "Victory", the goddess Nike is the Greek word for "victory" and was depicted in many statues as a female figure with wings.

There is a large parking place where you can leave your car.
There is a nice panoramic view from the cache, so you can take nice panoramic snapshots if you want.
The container dimensions: 13x7x5 cm.

Good luck!
