Utterly Off The Rails. Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Jacobite: After visiting the main cache site a few days ago, I found
that there is no longer pubic access to the site.
So, with that said, I think it's time to put this one to bed.
If access becomes available in the future, I may get it up and running again, but until that time.......

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Jacobite’s “Utterly Off The Rails” Multi-cache.

This is a multi-cache, comprising of five micro caches (film canisters),
and a regular sized main cache. To discover the main cache you need
to find each of the micro caches in turn.

The route for this cache will take you from Sheriffhall (just outside Dalkeith),
to Penicuik. The route follows a dismantled railway line, which is now a
cycle/walkway route. From start to finish the route is 10.5 miles long,
and I would recommend that you cycle it. And for those of you who are mad
enough to walk it, please feel free to do so!

The paths are in excellent condition, and being an old railway line, there are no
really steep gradients, (apart from the very last third of a mile).
Due to the traffic free environment, I feel this cache would make a nice day
out for the family. However, the youngest members of the family would benefit
from the addition of a kids seat/trailer on Mum or Dads bike.

Along the length of the route you will be able enjoy impressive views of the
surrounding countryside, sheer drops from the bridges and viaducts dotted
along the way, and darkened tunnels (one of which is over 500ft long).
And with an abundance of flora and fauna, I’m sure you’ll see something
that grabs your attention.
There is an excellent picnic area at the site of the old Rosslyn Castle Station,
or you could wait until you reach the main cache to have lunch,
which has obvious benefits of its own.

If you decide to drive to the start of the route before cycling,
the nearest available parking can be found at Lugton just on the
outskirts of Dalkeith. From there it’s a short cycle to the start
of the route.

If you need a copy of the route maps, please email me and I’ll be happy to
email you the route maps, just print them out and off you go!

At the time of placing the cache, the cache contents consisted of,

A disposable camera (take a pic of your achievement and put it back).
Please note that by taking a pic of yourself, or others. You are agreeing
to have that pic shown on this cache listing. If you do not agree with this,
please do not take a pic of yourself, or others.
A puncture repair kit.
A pair of stereo earphones.
A French manicure kit.
A candle with holder.
A stationery set.
A rabbit bobble-head toy.

Good Luck, Jacobite.
