Geocache Description:

Claylands Climb is hidden in a small nature reserve near Bishops Waltham. This nature reserve has had some work done recently but still needs to mature in places. Excellent view from the top! We suggest you park at N50 57 530 W001 13 288 and enter the park through the gate at the end of Claylands Road. To find the cache you should stay on the gravel paths at all times until within 15 feet of cache location. Do not attempt to climb off of the paths as this could be dangerous.

Claylands is a Site of Importance of Nature Conservation (a SINC), designated by HCC and recognised by the local authorities as such. It is particularly important for its newts, insect populations e.g. 25 species of butterfly and rare meadow bees, which like the warm south facing open grassy slopes rich in wildflowers, including orchids.

Dog walkers are welcome but do please pick up after your dog and use the dog bin provided at Claylands Road and try not to let your dogs swim in the ponds which disturbs the rare newts. Thank you.
