My fascination with bowstring bridges, among other things continues. This historic Indiana bridge connects the Newfields (formerly the Indianapolis Museum of Art IMA) main campus to the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park and the Indy Parks Greenway. The Iron Bowstring Pony Truss Bridge #49, which was built in 1873 and moved to the IMA from Montgomery County,Indiana, spans the Indianapolis Water Company Central Canal behind the Museum's main building. A gift from the commissioners of the county, the bridge was restored and moved to its new location with assistance from the W.C. Griffith Foundation, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, and other contributors. Parking is the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park - open dawn to dusk.
