Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Russian Wilderness of Klamath National Forest. It is a back country adventure for sure!

After finding over 200 caches I felt it was time to put out my first cache. You will have to earn this cache located approximately one-half mile west of Waterdog Lake in the Russian Wilderness of Klamath National Forest. There are several ways you could approach the cache however the preferred route would be from the Deacon Lee Trail head accessed off of Callahan-Cecilville Road. A Klamath National Forest map may be necessary if you are not familiar with the area. The cache is located at an altitude of just over 7300 feet and should be accessible from June until fall storms. You well need to be in reasonably good physical condition and pack your water. We obtained and checked coordinates, placed the cache, ate our lunch and took some photos with a round trip time of six and one-half hours from the Trail head. Most of the adventure is on the Deacon Lee Trail with great views of the Trinity Alps and Salmon Mountains. The last one-quarter mile is steep off trail. As with all mountain caches you will hopefully find the preferred route the first time! From the cache you can see Waterdog, Lower Russian and Golden Russian Lakes.
