Geocache Description:

A sign-only micro near an old Civil Defense siren. (And a really good BBQ joint.)

I was in the neighborhood (at said really good BBQ joint - no relation to me) when I noticed a relic of the 1950s. Around here these Civil Defense sirens haven't seen much use in recent years - though, now that I think about it, that's probably a GOOD thing...

Back in Kansas where I grew up announcing imminent nuclear annihilation wasn't the main purpose of these (though they were "used" for that too). Mostly these were used to announce that a tornado was near and we should head for the basement. These sirens were tested one day a month during the tornado season, and went off a couple of times a year "for real".

I wonder when this one last sounded, if it ever did?

The cache is a sign only micro. No room for trade items. bring your own pen, and an appetite.
