Segerstad är en för
Falbygden typisk klungby där bebyggelsen inte splittrats
helt trots flera skiftesreformer. Gårdarna i byn
låg i en klunga kring en ursprungligen obebyggd yta
(bytån). Under I 700-talet började man utnyttja
bytån till kalvhagar, kålgårdar och backstugor. Med
tiden upptogs bytån av ett myller av hus och gator genom vilka
boskapen leddes till och från fägatan och vidare till
betesmarkerna utanför byns odlingsmark, upp på
Segerstadsfalan. Att trafiken dit var livlig syns på
huvuddrevens storlek. De nu skogsbeklädda höjderna
ovanför Segerstad var öppet landskap som odlades in till
1800-talets slut. Längs betesmarkerna, i det som nu är
skog finns rester av bebyggelse och åkerbruk.

Segerstad is one of Falköping's
districts typical clustered villages where the settlement has not
been dispersed despite several land distribution reforms. The farms
in the village were located in a duster round the Common
(bytån) which was not originally built on. (bytån:- the
piece of the village common which stretched out towards the grazing
land). During the 18th century the village began to use the common
for calf enclosures cabbage farms and crofter's cabins. Cattle were
led along the cattle road and onto the pasture ground on the
Segerstad "falan" (plain), outside the village's cultivated fields.
The now forested heights above Segerstad were once open pasture
land, which were under cultivation at the end of the 19th century.
Along the beat, in what is now forest land are traces of houses and
land cultivation.
