Geocache Description:

This multicache forms the second section of a walk around the countryside near to the village of Meriden. You need to complete the Broad Ridge Walk 21 cache (GCP1CW) to find the coordinates for the first part of this cache. The above coordinates are for the same parking location as Broad Ridge, and completing both caches in one visit involves a circular walk of about 2 miles. Alternatively, if you prefer to make two visits, there is some parking available at the first part of this multi.

The walk offers some surprising views beyond Birmingham Airport and the second City itself. The name of the cache refers to a pump which used to supply water to nearby Meriden Hall. The cache has been relocated, but used to be sited under a bridge over a channel which once carried the water.

There are three parts to this multicache, a virtual, a micro and a traditional. The route follows a public footpath.

1. Coordinates from Broad Ridge cache lead to: Two letters and two numbers – DP ab.

2. Go to N52 25.(a+2)(b+1)9 W001 39.2(b+1)a and locate micro.

3. Coordinates in micro lead to actual cache - keep to the footpath.

The cache contains a log and the usual goodies. FTF also had the chance to grab a copy of the ACWA Circular Walks book; now downgraded to a small cache with room for small trades.

After the cache, return to the micro, then either retrace your steps or head approximately North East on footpath, following waymarks. This takes you past the site of Ram Pump. Passing through a couple of kissing gates, the footpath eventually meets a track leading to Main Road. Turn right along road to return to parking location.

This continues the series of caches created by ‘A Coventry Way Association’. The association was originally formed to promote a long distance footpath, A Coventry Way, and to support local authorities in the path’s maintenance. Our primary aim was to encourage people to discover and use the local countryside. A book of 21 Circular Walks was produced, broadly based on the main walk. Our plan is to set out a series of caches, located on or near each of the 21 walks. See ‘www.acoventryway.org.uk’ for further information.
