A nice easy cache. This spot gives a good view up and down the Kyle of Tongue. It has some more recent newsworthy history than some of the others in the area. Please ask for more info as it is probably not a good idea to put this in writing on a cache page.
A passenger ferry across the Kyle of Tongue remained until 1971 when a bridge and causeway finally replaced the narrow road that made its way around the southern end of the Kyle . The bridge is 201 yards long and linked to the eastern side by a heavily-engineered causeway. At the far end of the bridge is the junction at which you can decide to press on towards Durness or turn North for the lovely detour along the west shore of Tongue Bay to Melness and Talmine.
