L'Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore " L'Abbazia fra le nuvole" e' la casa madre degli Olivetiani,una congregazione di monaci Benedettini fondata nel 1313 dal Beato Bernardo Tolomei da Siena, in una poverissima e spoglia area costituita da Balze erosive, al sud di Siena, adesso l'intera zona e' costituita da distese di cipressi e altre piante verdi. I famosi affreschi nel Grande Chiostro ( 36 , un grande sforzo pittorico dei suoi autori, Luca Signorelli - 1450-1523 e piu' tardi Giovanni Sodoma - 1477-1549) raccontano la vita di San Benedetto.
Mentre nell'Abbazia da non perdere assolutamente lo straordinario lavoro di intarsio ( 1505 circa) fatto da Fra Giovanni da Verona negli scanni del coro della Cappella.
Ho piazzato la cache nei giardini dell'Abbazia,attenzione quando lavorate alla cache, ci sono moltissimi curiosi !!!

Monte Oliveto Maggiore Abbey "the Abbey in the Clouds" is the mother house of the Olivetians, a congregation of Benedictine Monks founded in 1313 by Beato Bernardo Tolomei di Siena on the a godforsaken eroded Balze Cliff area to the south of Siena. Well, Bernardo persuaded God back, and the whole place is now awash with cypress trees and other greenery. The famous frescoes in the Great Cloister (36 of them - a massive endeavour) recount the life of Saint Benedict, and are by Luca Signorelli (c1450 - 1523) and latterly Giovanni Sodoma (1477 - 1549) Whilst at the Abbey, don’t miss the extraordinary marquetry work (circa 1505) by Fra Giovanni di Verona in the chapel's choir stalls.
I placed the cache in a garden of the the Abbey,attention when you work at the cache, there are a lot of smugglers!!!
